Spirituality often gets this rep for being a bit, well, complicated and time consuming. You know...
Trips to India for meditation retreats
250 hour Yoga Teacher Trainings
Church every Sunday
Finding the right crystals for the right purpose
Figuring out how to read Tarot or Oracle cards
All sorts of stuff...
But if we learned anything from this week's Stress Less Show episode with guest Elizabeth Rachel, it's that spirituality doesn’t have to be so complicated and time consuming. It can be simple and even quick. It truly can be the little things. That cup of coffee in the morning, 10 minutes of writing down your thoughts, even staring into space for 60 seconds (my personal favorite)...
Look, society tells us that in order for us to be worthy of love, attention, or whatever it is that we need, that everything we do must be productive or perfect...
But, you know, the thing is that spirituality is anything but perfect. It's a practice. It's about consistency and presence. It's about freedom.
It's not about giving up life as we know it to live under some rock with India's greatest guru (although that could be fun and enlightening), it's about YOU and what works for you spiritually.
I don't know about you, but doing something drastic, pushing or hustling to deepen my spiritual connection feels, well, not spiritual.
For me, it's about simple, small intentional actions that I know I can consistently turn to, to connect in. For me that's auto-writing every single day - 5 minutes or less. Meditating every once in a while. And in late spring, summer and early fall, putting my hands in the dirt in my garden...
What about you? What small, intentional actions do you take or plan to take daily to connect spiritually? Let me know - you may even inspire me to try something new myself.
