How to Treat Yourself and Shop with Intention

‘Tis the season to treat yo self! Now that we are officially in the last month of 2019 (the last month of the decade!), the holiday season is here which means we are in a giving state of mind. While we may spend hours rushing out to buy presents for our friends and loved ones, when was the last time you gave yourself a gift? This month on The Stress Less Show, we are talking all about how we can treat ourselves for a change and head into the new decade committed to taking care of ourselves and who we want to be. I am so excited this week to have personal stylist, Susan Padron, back on the show to share her tips for treating ourselves and transforming ourselves through our style this holiday season.

Susan is an incredible intuitive personal stylist whose work goes beyond clothing. She is able to help her clients connect their style to something even bigger.

“I'm able to guide people and introduce them to the new version of themselves.”

She helps her clients edit their current wardrobe to create a new style that allows them to show up as their best selves, and guides them to new pieces that they will feel confident in so they can level up in all areas of life.

“I get the pleasure of hearing their life updates whether it's promotions that they've had at work, or relationships changes, and just really see overall a huge shift in their energy and how they carry themselves.”

Through her works with countless clients, Susan has come on the show with two tips you can use this December to treat yourself to a brand new you!

Tip #1: Make a shopping wish list for yourself.

Susan’s first tip is to make a wish list for yourself, and while that sounds simple enough, there’s more to creating a wishlist than just listing items. Susan stresses how it is crucial that we first start by looking inward so we create a list that supports the person we are becoming.

“We're always evolving, we're always growing… It's important to take that step and say, ‘Who am I now [and] who do I want to be?’ Then, you should really start taking notes [and] making a shopping wishlist for yourself.”

As we go through our lives and begin to learn more about who we are becoming, Susan suggests keeping a wishlist on our phones where we can write down any and all pieces that catch our eye or come to mind. By doing so, we are able to create a plan for our next purchase so that we stop buying things without thinking about their place in our closet.

Tip #2: Take a look at your list from time to time.

Once we’ve started creating our own personal wishlist, The next step is to begin using it intentionally in order to prevent impulse buying. Susan recommends consulting our list periodically and then only buying the item is on our list when they feel truly in alignment with who we are and what we need.

“It’s less impulse buying and more just assisting with helping you move into your more aligned authentic self”

By thinking intentionally about the things you choose to buy in creating a plan, you prevent yourself from buying things that you do not truly love, saving you time, money and space in your closet for the items that support who you want to be. What you wear has an important effect on how we feel and Susan’s tips are designed to help you feel your best in every piece you buy in every day of your life.

“You need to love what you're wearing first in order for that to just be able to translate well into the rest of your day”
